Get Creative with Nature!
20th Nov 2025
There was a wonderful mix of art and nature in our classroom as we embarked on a textured painting project. Our materials? A collection of pine cones, which we transformed into beautiful, colourful creations.
At first glance, it looked like we were simply adding a splash of colour to some forest finds. However, this fun activity was packed with learning. Handling the unique, bumpy texture of the pine cones provided a fantastic sensory experience. Carefully applying paint to such a tricky, three-dimensional object was a true test of fine motor control and hand-eye coordination, challenging our pupils to think about space and angles in a new way.
We also practised our decision-making skills by choosing colour patterns and exercised our patience as we waited for our prickly masterpieces to dry.
It was a wonderful way to combine natural materials with artistic expression. Well done to the Rangers 2 artists for creating such a unique and colourful collection
