Intercultural week

21st Jun 2023

Last week we celebrated Intercultural Week in our school. It was a week filled with lots of exciting and new activities. It was amazing to see and hear about some of the diverse cultures and customs that are in our world.

4th class had studied the country of Japan . We learned about Japanese food, their homes, traditional clothing and sports they play. We practiced some Shodo writing-the ancient art of Japanese calligraphy. We copied Kanji symbols and decorated them with cherry blossoms.

On Thursday we participated in dances from around the world and learned many ways to say “Hello” when we sang the song “Hello to all the Children of the World”.

The highlight for a lot of us was when we got to dress up in clothes from our country and attend the Intercultural Food Fair in the school hall. We each tasted three / four foods from different countries. Some of our favourites were the Jollof rice and the dumplings.

Thank you to Ms. Storey and the Diversity Committee for all their hard work organising such a successful week.
