October - Romans

11th Feb 2026

Our class explored the fascinating world of the Romans, discovering how they created one of the most influential civilisations in history through their highly organised armies, impressive engineering, and advanced planning skills. We studied the Romans under several headings, including the Roman Army, Roman Gods, Architecture and famous monuments such as the Colosseum and the aqueducts, Roman daily life and government, food, slavery, and entertainment—especially the thrilling chariot races held in the Circus Maximus. To deepen our learning, we designed newspaper-style posters reporting on events from ancient Roman times, created mosaic artwork inspired by Roman designs, and learned songs that illustrated different aspects of Roman life, including the many Roman Gods that Romans believed in, and the Roman calendar introduced by Julius Caesar.
