Roll the Dice on Number Fun!
5th Mar 2026
There were cheers, friendly competition, and plenty of counting in Rangers 2 as we rolled out a brand new board game to boost our number skills. Our pupils took on the challenge of matching quantities in pictures to the correct numerals, and the excitement was infectious!
To the casual observer, it may have looked like a simple game of chance and fun. But beneath the game piece movements, our young mathematicians were hard at work. Each turn required careful observation as our players counted objects in pictures and connected them to the matching number on the board. This reinforced one-to-one correspondence and number recognition in the most engaging, hands-on way.
The game format brought wonderful opportunities for turn-taking, patience, and sportsmanship. We celebrated each other's correct matches and encouraged friends who needed a little extra thinking time. Following the rules and navigating the board also strengthened attention and executive functioning skills.
It was brilliant to see such enthusiasm for maths, proving once again that learning sticks best when we're having fun.
