Science Experiments

1st Oct 2023
We took part in our first Science Experiments of the year.
5th class explored which material was the best conductor of heat. We took three different spoons (metal, plastic and wood) and tested to see which one would melt butter using the heat from a bowl of water first. We all got mixed results but we learned that this often happens in science and discussed how we could be more careful when preparing our experiments in the future to try and make our results as accurate as possible.
6th class observed convection currents in water. We firstly put green ice cubes into water to see what type of currents there were. Then we put warm water that was coloured red into the water to observe the convection currents looked like. It was quite a messy experiment and some of us ended up with very green hands!
