Welcome Back on Thursday!

25th Aug 2020

Dear Parent / Guardian, Member of the school community,

The School Staff are looking forward to welcoming all our pupils and parents / guardians

back to school for the 2020/2021 school year on  Thursday next 27th August

We are satisfied that we have control measures (as previously communicated) in place to ensure that this will be a safe re-opening.

It will take some time for all of us to get used to the “new circumstances” as we become familiar with the new routines and procedures designed to keep everyone safe and to prevent the spread of the virus. There will, undoubtedly, be some unforeseen challenges and we will deal with these as they arise.  It has recommended that primary school teachers and staff wear face coverings where a distance of 2 metres cannot be maintained. We will be adhering to this. Primary school children will not be required to wear face coverings under any circumstances. We request that parents and visitors wear face coverings within the building when they have prearranged to be in school building.  Parents should make an appointment to discuss any relevant matter. Please respect the wall markings re: NO entry or the limitation of numbers of people in certain areas e.g foyer etc. Teachers will monitor pupils' temperatures as necessary on entering the building and we will contact you immediately if we need to. If a child presents with covid symptoms we will bring them to an isolated area and parents/guardians will have to come and collect the child for medical attention. If you know your child is sick please do not send him/her to school,

Please refer to the arrival times for your child(ren) (News item 16th August). Pupils will line up according to their corresponding class number on wall. Please refer to the numbers below. On the first morning Junior infants will arrive at 9.30 (main door) and we will direct them to the class.

Senior infants will line up at lines no 2 and 3

First class will line up at lines no 4 and 5

Second class will line up at lines no 6 and 7

Third class will line up at lines no 8 and 9

Fourth Class will line up at lines no 10 and 11

FIfth class will line up at lines no 12 and 13

Sixth will line up at 14 and 15.

Teachers will ensure pupils will line up in correct pods (Groupings) on the first day. Please assure your children of this. We would like to thank you for your co-operation in supporting preparations to date and look forward to working with you as we assist the children in adapting to the necessary changes. We are also conscious of the fact that our pupils have not been in school since March and that they are looking forward to coming back to school to meet their friends again. We are aware that our new pupils are beginning a school year at a challenging time and have made plans to ensure that their arrival will be as free from stress as possible.

 Best wishes

Elaine
